Feb. 1st, 2005 08:24 pm School's back in session

Classes have started again and things are going very well. I started this semester taking 17 credit hours. My classes included biology, chemistry, trig, english and swimming. Today I dropped the english class because I it was going to just be too much with all the other classes, and I have teh most difficult time with english anyway. In fact I have cried through the other two college english classes I have taken. I am now back down to a reasonable class load and am looking forward to a fun semester.

The excitement is mounting as I begin preparations for my trip to China. Yes, I will be going to China this summer with the International Scholar Laurette Program. I still need to get my pasport, finish paying for the program and work on getting college credit for it, but it's all good. I still don't know the date or have a confirmation but, that should be arriving soon.

I am still looking for a job or volunteer position in healthcare but for now I am not worried about it. When the time is right I will get the job I need.

I need to get back to the books, but will try to keep this journal up to date as new things come up.

Dec. 27th, 2004 08:24 pm Opportunity of a Lifetime

The opportunity of a lifetime may have just fallen into my lap. The only question that remains is where do I go—Brazil, Australia, South Africa, or China?

I received a letter extending me the opportunity to go to one of these countries for two weeks over the summer, and serve in the International Scholar Laureate Program Delegation on Medicine. I will visit a medical school in the country of my choice and will observe, first hand, how modern medicine joins traditional medicine.

All I have to do now is choose a country and find the money to pay for it. I am currently thinking that I want to go to either China or Brazil, but they all sound amazing. I just hope I can get the money together in time.

Wish me Luck!

Dec. 24th, 2004 11:26 am College Break

School is out for a month and I am relieved.  This semester has been a difficult one, what with the death of my father and tough classes, I am still amazed that I finished the semester and am still sane.  I found myself filled with doubt most of the semester and struggled to maintain good grades in my classes.

I am hoping to find time over the break to rest and recharge my batteries, but with the holiday’s, shopping that I have put off, and the kids I have not found myself with any extra time to begin recharging.  I seem to be making lists and checking them off, but the lists don’t seem to be getting any shorter.  I just seem to find more things that need doing.

I just need a longer break, but that won't happen so many things will be left undone.  Next semester is going to be even more challenging than the last and I must rise to meet it.  I guess I will rest when I am dead, 'till then I push on.

Dec. 24th, 2004 11:21 am Hello World

Well, [info]rwitte42 finally did it ... he goaded me into creating a LiveJournal.  With school and kids, we'll see how much time I have left to post.  In any case, I'm here.
